Republic Adds 16 Embraer 170s for Delta Connection

(Source: Embraer; issued Jan. 19, 2005)

SÃO JOSÉ DOS CAMPOS, Brazil --- Embraer today announced that Republic Airways Holdings has added 16 firm and 34 option EMBRAER 170s to its order book.

This brings Republic's order book for EMBRAER 170s to 39 firm EMBRAER 170s and 61 options. Of the 16 new firm aircraft, two were already accounted for in Embraer's fourth-quarter 2004 order book.

The list price value of the firm portion of the new contract for 16 aircraft is US$ 400 million, with a potential to reach US$ 1.5 billion, if all options are converted. Embraer will begin deliveries of these aircraft in June 2005 and continue through mid-2006.

Republic will use the new firm aircraft to supply service to Delta Air Lines as a Delta Connection carrier. Republic already flies the EMBRAER 170 for United Airlines as part of its United Express service, and has taken delivery of 13 E-Jets to date. Through its subsidiaries, the company is one of the largest operators of Embraer aircraft with more than 110 ERJs and E-Jets.

“Republic Airways Holdings continues to be a pacesetter in North America for airline growth and passenger service,” said Frederico Fleury Curado, Embraer Executive Vice-President for Civil Aircraft. “We are especially honored and proud to see another new airline livery - this one of Delta Connection - painted on our EMBRAER 170.”

“We are very pleased with the EMBRAER 170 and are excited that the aircraft has met with such wide spread passenger acceptance. The EMBRAER 170 is shifting the paradigm in regional airline service. For the first time regional airlines can offer a truly seamless passenger experience that is equal to or better than mainline at regional airline economics,” said Bryan Bedford, Chairman, President and CEO of Republic Airways Holdings. “We operate in a very competitive marketplace and it is gratifying to see that even with the continued effort to operate more efficiently and economically the passenger has not been forgotten.”

As of December 31, 2004, the EMBRAER 170/190 family had logged 343 firm orders and 427 options.

Embraer is the world's leading manufacturer of commercial jets up to 110 seats.
