Russian Pacific Fleet makes Asia-Pacific tour

ON BOARD THE MISSILE CRUISER VARYAG, JAKARTA October 28 (RIA Novosti, Mikhail Tsyganov) - A group of ships from the Russian Pacific Fleet headed by the Varyag missile cruiser arrived early Friday in Indonesia to mark the first Russian fleet presence in the area since 1968, the Russian military attache to Jakarta said.

Vice Admiral and Deputy Pacific Fleet Commander Sergei Avramenko who runs the unit said the ships had arrived in Indonesia after conducting the Russian-Indian navy exercise Indra-2005 in the Bay of Bengal in the Indian Ocean.

"The main goal of our cruise is to demonstrate that Russia is a great sea power," he said, adding that it would contribute to international cooperation and promote stability in the Asia-Pacific region.

The naval unit, including the Admiral Tributs and the Admiral Panteleyev large anti-submarine ships, is scheduled to leave the Indonesian Western Fleet base of Tanjung Priok for Singapore November 2 on the first official visit of the Russian navy to the country. It is then scheduled to visit Thailand and Vietnam before it returns to its main base in the Russian far-eastern city of Vladivostok.

Eu gosto muito das novas corvetas russas como a Project 20380. Será usada no patrulhamento da águas territoriais russas e se precisar ir para a guerra pode ser armada de acordo.

Vai substituir muita velharia dos tempos soviéticos.

Mas a Inhauma eh uma fragata leve, ela so tem o nome de corveta aqui. Por exemplo, a Inhauma tem capacidade para helicoptero e a corveta russa nao... Claro, no caso a Inhauma pode ser considerada um overkill para patrulha, overloaded etc.

Sim é covardia. O AMRJ não teve a Guerra Fria, nem o brutal dinheiro investido pelo governo russo na mesma época. Caso tivesse ai sim a história poderia ser diferente.

Eu acho que os russos não a classificam como corveta, mas a denominam como embarcação de patrulha, mas não como corveta.

MOSCOW, May 24 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Navy is set to acquire 10 to 20 new battleships by 2015 that will set it back 5 to 10 billion rubles per frigate, Biznes, a business daily, reported.

The keels of a new frigate and a new large amphibious landing ship will be laid July 31 on Navy Day, said Admiral Vladimir Kuroyedov, commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy.

The new Mk 22350 multi-role and long-range frigate will conduct anti-submarine warfare (ASW) operations, hitting other naval targets. It will take three or four years to complete one frigate, if this project gets regular appropriations.

"Most likely, this project will feature engineering solutions that were used to build Mk 11356 frigates for the Indian Navy," Konstantin Makiyenko, deputy director of the Center for Analyzing Strategies and Technologies, said.

"This is, in fact, a large destroyer that is called a 'frigate' for political reasons," Mikhail Barabanov, scientific editor of Arms Exports magazine, said.

Experts have some misgivings about the July 31 deadline because a contract is usually awarded after a tender, but as of yet, no tender has been laid out.

According to the navy's Kuroyedov, the keel of a new large amphibious-landing ship will be finished before the year is out. That ship will displace 8,000 to 9,000 tons.

"The Russian Navy still has two amphibious landing ships that are unfit for action," Barabanov said. "It will take at least five billion rubles to build this ship."

If the tender is completed and the contract signed, these will be the first new ships for the navy since the year the Soviet Union collapsed, a navy source said.

"Not a single warship has been designed and built for the Russian Navy since 1991," he said, adding that the state has now started setting aside money.

The Russian military ship building industry's recovery has positively influenced armed exports.

"Naval hardware sales will account for 50% of Russian arms-export volumes, or more than $2.5 billion this year," Rosoboronexport head Sergei Chemezov said.

Uma fragata ASW com cerca de 9.000 ton?

Deve ser um destroier, com deslocamente equiparado às Arleigh Burke e eventualmente às Type45 britânicas, embora com um design a fazer lembrar muito as F-100 espanholas, até pela torre onde os russos poderão instalar um "AEGIS" russo.

Estranho a ausência de informação quanto a acpacidades AAW, que nos dias de hoje são o mais importnante.

E não esquecer que uma fragata ou destroier AAW tem no entanto boas capacidade de luta anti-submarina.

E a Marnha da Rússia bem precisa de uma renovação rápida após o colapso em que entrou após o fim da URSS.

Poderá ser um bom passo se se concretizar essa recuperação.

Embora o enorme intervalo de navios planeados (10 a 20) me pareça ser de mau prenúncio.

Pra quem tem um BCGN qualquer coisa é pequena.

Ainda hoje apesar dos pesares.......eu acho que a Marinha Russa é mais poderosa do que a Americana...

Esse sistema AEGIS não engana ninguém,até um Xavante penetra nessa defesa furada............é aquela coisa........nunca foi testado em combate real sabem ? .........em exercícios só vem demonstrando falhas...........imaginem um esquadrão de Flankers russos armados com 2 Moskit cada penetrando num grupo de batalha americano.........
