Battle for #Bakhmut - Situation at the End of 12 May 2023

Units of the Wagner PMC continue to dig into enemy defences in the western neighbourhoods of #Bakhmut: overnight, the stormtroopers managed to occupy several houses in the "Gnezdo" fortified area. Exactly two square kilometres of territory remain under the control of the enemy.
All three strongholds - Nest, Constructor and Domino - are relatively small blocks of flats. The Ukrainian formations have equipped firing points in them, and when the PMC approach, they mine entrances and undermine the approaches.

In the afternoon, footage appeared confirming the retreat of the RF Armed Forces to the south of the #Berkhovskoye Reservoir. The fire control from the heights north of the Chasov Yar - #Khromovo road was lost, and the RF Armed Forces were taking up defences along the eastern bank of the reservoir.

In the evening, Ukrainian resources posted video of the counterattack by the 56th AFU Mechanized Brigade vs. the positions of the RF Armed Forces to the west of Dubovo-Vasilyevka. The footage depicts the fight and the retreat of a part of the Russian unit from the abandoned positions. The withdrawal of Russian units reported by PMC Wagner's military correspondents takes place south of this point (we have marked it on the map), but there is no video confirmation yet.

While Wagner PMC assault squads are digging into the western neighbourhoods of #Bakhmut, the RF Armed Forces units arriving on rotation are retreating to the 2nd and 3rd lines of defence. Ukrainian formations do not stop pressing on the flanks.

So far, the retreats have been in relatively small areas, which nevertheless came at a heavy price for the "Bandwagon". But if the regular units do not consolidate and the configuration of forces on the front (as well as the approaches) does not change, the outcome of such regroupings could become even more deplorable.

And accordingly, for sure, these missiles are part of the plan for the expected offensive. If yesterday, in fact, the softening of our positions and the search for weaknesses began, then at the decisive moment, we must be ready for mass launches of Storms. Including with decoys, for overloading air defense.

3. The city - the occupiers make every effort to capture it. Now a moral and psychological factor was added to the military goals. Our successes on the flanks hit the enemy's ego hard and he needs to rehabilitate himself. At the same time, the enemy cannot be underestimated - calm and planned work is needed now.

Anglo-French development flew across the part of territory of Russia. This is far from the last enemy product that we still have to face. DVA does not care about its mass, speed, and wing size.

To understand how to harm the system, you need to understand how it works:

1) The rocket has GPS (presumably Navstar + Galileo + Glonass + Beidou, the first two of which work on military codes).

2) Radio altimeter - necessary for avoiding terrain.

3) Thermal imaging homing head.

4) Inertial flight system - gyroscopes for measuring angular velocities.

How it all works together: at the preparatory stage, the terrain on the route of movement and the infrared portrait of the object is loaded into the rocket.

Two days ago, the entire Russian Telegram was discussing a possible attack of the AFU on Belgorod from Kharkov. There was a transfer of equipment and demonstration actions along the border.

But while the Russian information field recognized the threat posed by American weapons, the AFU managed to inflict significant damage on logistics centers, warehouses and bridges in the Kherson region, jeopardizing the supply of the group on the right bank.

Yes, now air defense crews shoot down almost all missiles from HIMARS and M270. But the Ukrainian formations, or rather the countries of the West, have already completed local tactical tasks: they left part of the Kharkiv and Kherson regions of the Russian Armed Forces .

Now the situation is similar to the summer of last year. In the Russian information field, they hastened to reassure everyone and declare that there would be no great danger from cruise missiles, and everyone was ready for them. The two-day strikes on Luhansk show that this is not entirely true.

At the moment, the AFU are testing British weapons in practice, striking at the positions of the Russian army at a distance from the front line, roughly repeating the tactics with HIMARS.

With each time, with each accurate strike and the approach of a full-scale offensive, the number of such attacks will increase. And the sooner we accept this reality without loud statements that are not backed up by actions, the sooner we level this threat.

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have launched a long-range sea- and air-based high-precision weaponry strike against AFU units and the depots of Western munitions in Ternopol and Petropavlovka (Dnepropetrovsk region).

The goal of the attack has been reached. All the assigned targets have been neutralised.

In Kupyansk direction, the attacks, launched by Operational-Tactical and Army Aviation, as well as artillery of the Zapad Group of Forces, have resulted in the neutralisation of the enemy manpower and hardware close to Kislovka, Timkovka, Berestovoye, Tabayevka (Kharkov region), and Stelmakhovka (Lugansk People's Republic).

2 Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups have been thwarted near Ivanovka and Dvurechnaya (Kharkov region).

 The enemy losses were over 100 Ukrainian servicemen, 5 motor vehicles, 1 D-20 howitzer and 1 Rapira anti-tank gun.

In Krasny Liman direction, the attacks, launched by Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, as well as artillery and heavy flamethrower systems of the Tsentr Group of Forces, have resulted in the neutralisation of AFU units near Yampolovka and Grigorovka (Donetsk People's Republic), and Chervonaya Dibrova (Lugansk People's Republic).

The enemy losses were over 60 Ukrainian personnel, 1 armoured fighting vehicle, 2 motor vehicles, and 1 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system.

In Soledar-Artyomovsk direction, the assault units supported by the Airborne Troops units continued fighting for the western neighbourhoods of Artyomovsk.

The enemy made massive attempts to break through Russian troops' defence to the north and south parts of Artyomovsk in the past 24 hour.

All the attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have been repelled. There has been no breakthrough in the defence of Russian forces.

The servicemen of the 4th and 200th motorised rifle brigades and the 6th Motorised Rifle Division of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation showed courage and heroism in repulsing the enemy attacks.

The units of the 4th Motorised Rifle Brigade have repulsed the attacks by AFU battalion tactical group to the south of Krasnoye (Donetsk People's Republic), as a result of which the enemy losses were around 200 servicemen killed and wounded.

The Commander of the 4th Motorised Rifle Brigade Colonel Vyacheslav Makarov led the battle while on the front line.

2 enemy attacks have been repulsed. The brigade destroyed 3 tanks, 4 infantry fighting vehicles and 2 armoured vehicles.

During the repulsion of the third attack, the brigade commander was seriously wounded and died while being evacuated from the battlefield.

Deputy Army Corps Commander for Military and Political Work Colonel Yevgeny Brovko led the actions of the personnel while in another area to repel the enemy attacks.

During the battle to repel one of the attacks, Colonel Yevgeny Brovko died heroically, suffering multiple shrapnel wounds.

The military personnel of the 3rd Battalion of the 200th Motorised Rifle Brigade repelled six attacks to the east of Bogdanovka (Donetsk People's Republic) involving over 100 Ukrainian assault unit servicemen, 7 tanks, 14 infantry fighting vehicles and other military and special-purpose equipment.

The enemy losses were 7 tanks, 11 infantry fighting vehicles and over 50 Ukrainian servicemen.

The 6th Division repulsed an attack by the enemy assault units supported by three tanks and four infantry fighting vehicles. The enemy losses were over 30 Ukrainian servicemen, 2 tanks and 3 infantry fighting vehicles.

In accordance with the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, distinguished Russian servicemen were presented with orders and other state awards directly at combat positions.

 Russian aviation have made 24 sorties in this area during the day. The Group's artillery have performed 107 firing missions.

 In Soledar-Artyomovsk direction, in total the enemy losses were over 400 Ukrainian servicemen killed and wounded, 12 tanks, 18 infantry fighting vehicles, 2 armoured fighting vehicles, as well as 1 D-20 howitzer.

In South Donetsk and Zapororozhye directions, aviation, as well as artillery and heavy flamethrower systems of the Vostok Group of Forces inflicted a fire damage on the enemy units near Vodyanoye, Nikolskoye, Shevchenko, Velikaya Novosyolka (Donetsk People's Republic), Poltavka and Malaya Tokmachka (Zaporozhye region).

1 AFU sabotage and reconnaissance group has been destroyed near Sladkoye (Zaporozhye region).

The enemy losses were over 120 Ukrainian servicemen, 4 motor vehicles, 1 Msta-B howitzer, and 1 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system.

1 AFU ammunition depot has been destroyed close to Khmelnitsky.

In addition, AFU 5th assault and 44th artillery brigades' command and control posts have been hit close to Krasnoye (Donetsk People's Republic) and Preobrazhenka (Zaporozhye region).

Fighter Aviation of Russian Aerospace Forces have shot down 1 AFU Su-27 aircraft near Novogrodovka (Donetsk People's Republic).

Air defence facilities have shot down 6 projectiles launched by HIMARS MLRS.

In addition, air defence facilities have intercepted 18 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have been shot down close to Golaya Pristan (Kherson region), Kirillovka, Spornoye, Vesyoloye, Yampolovka (Donetsk People's Republic), Novoaleksandrovka, Oborotnovka (Lugansk People's Republic), Petrovka and Zhovtnyovoye (Kharkov region).
