As of Dec 2022, USAF had received 3,609 #JASSM through 16 prod lots. Originally envisioned as a 4.9K missile program, USAF has since expanded its Inventory Objective first to 7.2K missiles & later to 10,250 missiles. Lot 16 also marked the end of production of the AGM158A.
According to the current and planned funding and production ramp profile, the #JASSM programs is first aiming to get up to a production rate of 45 missiles / month (540/yr) by EO 2023, 60/month (720/yr) by 2026 and further expand to 1K/year later this decade.
JASSM Variants:
AGM158A: Baseline Approx 200 nm range
AGM158B: Extended range, >500NM range
AGM158B-2:
processing over B
AGM158B-3: B2+M-CODE GPS receiver
AGM158D: LOS & BLOS Data-Link and other enhancements to prosecute moving targets
#LRASM has also seen significant recent programmatic changes. It was originally envisioned to be bought in limited quantities given its interim nature. While both services work on follow on systems, FY24 request saw them
inventory objective quantity to 1,215 (727 N & 488 AF).
In Aug 2022, USAF formally changed the AGM158D #JASSMER requirements. While program documents don't shed a lot of light on the exact nature of these changes, recent documents reveal the addition of an ability to "prosecute moving targets/ time-sensitive targets at scale".
Program documents also provide some additional details on the plans to integrate #JASSM on the F-35. Based on current plans, flight testing is slated for 2025, with 18 JASSM missiles procured in 2022 and 2023 to support F-35 integration and testing.
