India New modifications have been made to Arjun Mk II MBT tank

The DRDO chairman expressed confidence that the Arjun Mark II MBT will be accepted by the Army.

The Indian Army had asked for 93 improvements to the tank which includes the capability of firing the anti-tank LAHAT missile, laser protection suite and improved armoured protection for the vehicle.

The Arjun Mk-2 is the latest generation of main battle tank (MBT) designed and developed by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) of India. The Arjun Mk II was unveiled for the first time to the public during a military parade for the National Day in New Delhi on 26 January, 2014.

The ARJUN Main Battle Tank Mk II has been designed and developed by DRDO by incorporating numerous improvements over and above the ARJUN MBT Mk I which is already in service with the Indian Army.

The main armament of the Arjun Mk II main battle tank comprises a 120mm rifled gun fitted with a thermal sleeve, fume extractor, and a muzzle reference system. The gun is able to fire a full range of ammunitions including FSAPDS (Fin Stabilized Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot), HESH (High-Explosive Squash Head), PCB, TB and the Israeli LAser Homing Anti-Tank (LAHAT) missile. LAser Homing Attack Missile, or LAHAT, is an advanced missile developed and manufactured by the MBT Division of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).

The overall layout of the Arjun Mk II is similar to other main battle tanks, with the driver's compartment at the front, three-man turret in the centre and engine and transmission at the rear. The front part of the chassis and the turret are fitted with an integrated explosive reactive armor (ERA) system. The all-round protection has been enhanced with improved KANCHAN armour, a modular composite armour developed by India. It has been described as being made by sandwiching composite panels between Rolled homogeneous armour (RHA). This armour is able to defeat APDS and HEAT rounds and is believed to withstand APFSDS.

After a very long period of operational use of the legendary, continuously modernized track-chassis M-113 “Zelda” armoured carriers, the Israeli land forces decided to find a surprising replacement of that platform. Here, we mean the Eitan vehicle, which is a wheeled 8×8 APC. After the long period of analytical work and tests, the Israeli Army decided to acquire a wheeled platforms, even despite the earlier negative opinions (e.g. referring to the US-made Stryker IFV), suggesting that this type of combat vehicles has a limited level of usability within the scope of combat operations carried out within the areas of military interest of Israel.
The initial official information pertaining to the new Eitan and Carmel (32-tonnes demonstrator of a new generation combat vehicle) platforms have been publicized in October last year.

Com a liberação de verbas, é a hora perfeita pro EB esquecer o 1A5 e partir pro 2A4. Há mais de 400 2A4 na Europa dando sopa, são eles:

1) 104+160 (ex-suécos) na Alemanha.
2) 54 Espanha.
3) 139 Finlândia.
4) 192 Suíça.

Total = 649 Leo 2 dando sopa nos estoques Europeus.

Nossa necessidade atualmente são de 344 carros de combate (216 para os RCC's e 128 para os RCB's). Dá e sobra viaturas para fazer de spare.

Tentaria comprar cada viatura por U$ 600 mil (lembrando que anos atrás foram vendidos por 800 mil), daria U$ 207 mi (quase o que pagamos para modernizar M113). Dava pra pagar isso e depois parcelar a modernização deles, é a oportunidade de ouro que o Exército tem e se deixar passar, não teremos mais uma outra oportunidade dessas.

Veículo que tem praticamente o mesmo peso do M60A3 nosso e não deve sair por mais de 600 mil cada.

DUBAI, November 15. /TASS/. Russia is implementing a contract for the delivery of T-90S main battle tanks to Iraq, the press office of Russia’s Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation told TASS at the Dubai Airshow 2017 on Wednesday.

"The contract is being implemented in accordance with the schedule approved by the parties," the press office said.
Russia’s Uralvagonzavod defense manufacturer said in its report for 2016 that the corporation intended to implement two contracts in 2017 for the delivery of T-90S/SK main battle tanks. The first contract for 64 tanks was concluded with foreign customer No. 704. The second contract was signed with foreign customer No. 368, under which the first delivery batch will include 73 tanks.
