O congreso norteamericano (no tapetão) tirou da Embraer a vitória, mas não tirou do Super Tucano a vitória na escolha feita pela maior força militar do planeta.
Os EUA carimbaram na fuselagem do Super Tucano o seguinte: A MELHOR AERONAVE DO MUNDO NA SUA CATEGORIA, e isso, a rasteira política interna deles não conseguirá tirar.
A Embraer e o Brasil vão colher os frutos dessa boa propaganda e reconhecimento.
Quando no mundo, alguma força militar necessitar de uma aeronave de ataque leve, o A-29 certamente será a primeira opção.
Então, que venham as possíveis encomendas...

Já pararam pra pensar que ao cancelar este contrato, a contestação judicial perdeu o objeto? Vão fazer outro processo. Se eles quiserem mesmo o ST, basta repetir o RFI nos mesmos termos e não solicitar o RFP para a Hawker Beechcraft, pois o avião dela está em desenvolvimento.

O cancelamento e revisão da compra dos aviões Super Tucano por parte dos EUA decorre de uma combinação de fatores, alguns mais comezinhos, outro de maior implicação estratégica.

Primeiro, há as eleições americanas deste ano e a forte pressão da indústria bélica local contra a entrada de qualquer ator estrangeiro em seus domínios.

Assim como em 2004, quando a Embraer viu cancelada uma concorrência ainda mais importante para o fornecimento de aviões de alerta antecipado ao Exército dos Estados Unidos, o discurso de fabricantes e políticos alegando a perda de empregos americanos falou alto.

Desta vez, a brasileira tinha um produto único em mãos, e uma venda para a única superpotência do mundo agregaria valor inestimável para negócios futuros.

Há mais. O Departamento de Estado americano apoiava a compra de olho em uma cooperação mais ampla na área de defesa -em outras palavras, para facilitar politicamente as chances do Boeing F/A-18 na concorrência para aquisição de caças da Força Aérea Brasileira.

A escala dos negócios é incomparável, R$ 600 milhões nos Estados Unidos e talvez R$ 10 bilhões aqui, mas o ponto dos americanos era o de estabelecer uma relação de confiança hoje inexistente na área ao abrir o maior mercado de defesa do mundo ao Brasil.

Só que do anúncio da vitória e posterior suspensão da compra dos Super Tucanos para cá houve uma série de notícias favoráveis ao concorrente francês na disputa dos caças, o Dassault Rafale.

O anúncio de que a Índia deverá comprar o modelo e a subsequente viagem do ministro Celso Amorim (Defesa) ao país asiático para coletar informações colocaram novamente o avião como favorito na disputa.

Isso, nas palavras de uma pessoa ligada aos negociadores americanos ao analisar o caso ontem, "foi uma ducha de água fria".

Assim, não é nada casual o cancelamento da compra dos Super Tucanos a essa altura, ainda que ele possa vir a ser reavaliado mais para a frente.

Air Force Investigating Disputed Plane Contract (edited excerpt)

WICHITA, Kan. --- The U.S. Air Force said Tuesday it plans to rescind a disputed $354 million contract for a light air support plane and open an investigation into the award, saying it was not satisfied with documentation supporting the decision.

On Tuesday, the Air Force said it advised the Department of Justice that it will take corrective action and set aside the contract to Sierra Nevada effective March 2.

Citing the ongoing litigation, Secretary of the Air Force Michael B. Donley would only say that David Van Buren, the Air Force's senior acquisition executive, is not satisfied with the documentation supporting the award decision.

"While we pursue perfection, we sometimes fall short, and when we do we will take corrective action," Donley said in an emailed statement.

Gen. Donald Hoffman, commander of the Air Force Material Command, has initiated an investigation into the matter, the Air Force said. (end of excerpt)

The Beechcraft AT-6 is the most capable, affordable, sustainable and interoperable light attack aircraft in the world today. The aircraft has proven that it can accomplish the entire mission spectrum described in the LAS competition and more. Importantly, the AT-6 has class-leading weapons capabilities including NATO-standard unguided munitions, laser guided bombs and laser guided air-to-ground missiles. Additionally, the AT-6 is the first and only fixed-wing aircraft to have integrated and successfully employed 2.75" laser guided rockets.

SÃO PAULO, Brazil --- Embraer regrets today’s announcement by the US Air Force, to set aside the contract award related to the Afghanistan Light Air Support program (LAS).

Along with its US partner, Sierra Nevada Corporation, Embraer participated in the LAS selection process providing, on time and without exceptions, all the required documentation.

The decision in favor of the Super Tucano, announced on December 30, 2011 by the U.S. Air Force, was a choice for the best product with proven performance in action and all the necessary capabilities to meet client demands.

Embraer remains committed to offer the best solution to the US Air Force and will await further clarification on the subject to decide next steps, in consultation with its partner, SNC.
