Vocês já sabem, podem gritar e reclamar quanto quiserem, se for estratégico, eles farão.

Podem chiar e gritar, eles simplesmente continuam trabalhando caladinhos.

Depois da queda do muro não sei o que aconteceu. Para os "experts" não se justifica gastar mais dinheiro em defesa após aquele período histórico, afinal a URSS caiu e os EUA são a superpotência hegemonica. Acham que o mundo é engessado, e não dinâmico, que vai ficar a mesma coisa para sempre, sem entender que outros atores crescerão e entrarão na disputa global querendo o seu espaço, ainda mais a China.

Pois é, o interessante é que os milicos americanos já sacaram isso, inclusive estão começando a raciocinar a forma de dividir aquela região por alí, porque atualmente a força marítima da China é poderosa, mas tem perna curta, foi pensada pra se defender. Só que eles já mudaram essa idéia, eles querem levar a marinha deles pra passear, já deram os primeiros passos, e agora o próximo é um PA, e obviamente não vão ficar com um só... Aí a coisa pega, porque os americanos vão ter que aprender a dividir o espaço marítimo internacional, e provavelmente isso vai incentivar os Japas a fazerem a mesma coisa (já que teoricamente eles podem fazer isso agora). A sorte é que os Coreanos tem o seu probleminha particular, porque se alguma hora eles se unissem denovo o triângulo da discórdia de olho puxado estaria formado novamente.

Its Springtime for China’s Blue Water Navy

The other day we linked to a piece by a Navy commander warning of increasingly activist Chinese naval exercises in recent months. IISS has a new brief providing useful detail on a number of recent Chinese sorties into the South China Sea.

Two exercises in March and April were the first of any real size beyond the First Island Chain, and “indicated that deployments beyond the chain were now official policy,” says London based IISS. The flotillas contained the PLA’s most advanced warships, of Russian manufacture (Kilo class diesel electric subs and Sovremenny class destroyers).

In March and April a flotilla of six ships from the North Sea Fleet set sail, passing near Okinawa on its way to the strategic Malacca Strait between Malaysia and Indonesia; through which flows much of China’s inbound shipping, including vital oil and minerals. Once there, the flotilla conducted live fire and anti-submarine exercises.

IISS says these sorties demonstrate the PLA Navy is taking a much more prominent role in Chinese foreign policy. “It shows that the navy is willing and able to break through the First Island Chain and into the Pacific – a substantial change from previous doctrine.”

For China’s neighbors, Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries, it means they will have to contend with a more assertive China. Japan and the U.S. will have to get used to Chinese flotillas moving about the Pacific. “However, its primary focus will be on preserving territorial integrity rather than on aggressive expansion.”

What say you readers? Aggressive Chinese naval actions which should be of some concern? Or a rising power demonstrating its intent to defend strategic self interests? Of course the two aren’t mutually exclusive.

China’s PLA Navy Gets an LCAC



Well look at that, the Chinese navy has got itself a Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC). More photos of new additions to China’s growing fleet at Information Dissemination. If China is serious about building an amphibious warfare capability, I’d be curious to know what their answer is to the anti-access challenge. My guess is they don’t have one. Precision guided weapons work both ways, of course, and our battle networks are pretty good at long-range targeting.

When RAND recently wargamed a Chinese invasion of Taiwan they found that a Chinese amphibious assault could become a “bloody fiasco” in the face of determined Taiwanese resistance. Still, I’m sure there is some Chinese think tank working vigorously on an AirSea Battle concept that envisions the PLA navy using their new LCACs.

O que um país faz quando tem excesso de população e poucos recursos naturais ?

Guerra uma boa guerra.

E não vão se preocupar com perdas.As mortes vão ser na casa das dezenas de milhões.

Guerra é uma coisa boa.Movimenta a economia,estimula o exercício patriótico da população,estabiliza a taxa de natalidade,cria novos postos de trabalho,etc,etc,etc....

Os Chineses obviamente já estão selecionando seu inimigo.Pode ser um país da região para uma guerrinha divertida.................ou em outro continente para ampliar seu poder geoestratégico.

Eu particularmente se fosse um estrategista chines optaria por causar uma guerra contra o Brasil.

Eu particularmente se fosse um estrategista chines optaria por causar uma guerra contra o Brasil.

Nã, contra o RU é que era. O Brasil é demasiado brando para entrar em guerra seja com quem for. Basta eles chegarem a Londres e começarem a ameaçar comprar algum clube de futebol que há guerra...quer dizer isso já não era novo, esquece.
