Aqui no Brasil é assim em assuntos militares, enquanto não tiver um contrato assinado e as primeiras unidades chegando por aqui, tudo pode acontecer, inclusive o cancelamente/suspensão de programas...

France shows interest in Russian aircraft

MOSCOW, February 21 (RIA Novosti) - France's top government officials expressed Wednesday their interest in buying Russian aircraft, including heavy helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles.
"We are interested in heavy helicopters, and also in reconnaissance aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV)," French Defense Minister Michele Alliot-Marie said at a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and officials from the Russian-French Council for Security Cooperation.

She said France and Russia could become effective partners in developing new-generation aircraft.

French Foreign Minister Philippe Doust-Blazy said at the same meeting that France would consider buying Russian amphibious aircraft to create a fleet to combat forest fires.

Russia manufactures multipurpose turbofan Be-200 aircraft that can be used as a firefighter, a cargo plane, a flying ambulance, and a passenger airliner. In its firefighting configuration, it can pick up 12 tons (26,460lb) of water by skimming over the water's surface, making it an effective weapon in extinguishing forest fires, a role in which it is used by Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry.

"We are interested in the Russian planes and we have already started relevant certification procedures," the French minister said.

He also said France "would be happy if Russia bought French Airbus passenger aircraft."

The council was set up by the presidents of the Russian Federation and the French Republic in January 2002 and held its inaugural meeting in Paris in November 2002.

The purpose of the bilateral forum is to strengthen the strategic dialogue between France and Russia by having biannual meetings of the foreign and defense ministers that focus on cooperation in defense industry, nonproliferation and the fight against global terrorism.

India Orders Lots of the New Blackhawkski

June 14, 2007: India has ordered 200 of the new Russian, 6.5 ton Ka-62 transport helicopters. This new design can carry 2.7 tons, which can include 14 passengers (or ten fully equipped infantry). Like the Mi8, the Ka-62 can also be equipped with weapons. The Ka-62 will be easier to maintain, safer to operate and more reliable than the earlier Mi-8. First flight of the Ka-62 will take place next year. Deliveries to India won't take place for about five years. Some 80 percent of the helicopters will be built in India. But many of the components will come from Russia. The Ka-62 will cost nearly as much as the UH-60 (about six million dollars each)

The Ka-62 is a replacement for its 40 year old Mi-8 (export versions are called Mi17) transport helicopter. The Mi8 is about twice the size and weight of the American UH-1, but only hauls about 50 percent more cargo (about 2.6 tons). However, the Mi-8 has a larger interior, and can carry 24 troops, versus a dozen in the UH-1. The UH-1 was replaced by the UH-60 in the 1980s, while the Mi-8 just kept adding better engines and electronics to the basic Mi-8 frame. The UH-60, while weighing as much as the UH-1 (4.8 tons), could carry as much as the 12 ton Mi-8. Most importantly, the Mi-8 costs about half as much as a UH-60, and the larger interior is popular with many users. Nearly 3,000 Mi17s have been exported. The Ka-62 will be more like an oversized UH-60 Blackhawk, and the Russians hope to achieve as much export success as they did with the Mi-8.

Russian CSAR Helicopter Will Be Exhibited at MAKS-2007 Air Show

Combat-transport Mi-171SH helicopter, determined for of combat search and rescue (CSAR) missions carrying out, for the first time will be introduced at MAKS-2007 Air Show. In recent years armies of many countries take great interest to helicopters of CSAR version. Resent military conflicts showed high effectiveness of application of such specialized helicopters in rescue missions of military personnel in conditions of combat actions conducting.

Till present time western helicopters-building companies were the most active in development and promotion of CSAR-helicopters to the world market. But appearance of Russian helicopter for combat-rescue missions carrying out can provide serious business competition to western helicopters.

Russian CSAR-helicopter was developed on the basis of well recommended itself in operation (including military missions) combat-transport Mi-171SH helicopter, produced by Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant. This helicopter initially has prerequisites for effective carrying out of CSAR missions: it is enough trustworthy for conducting missions in extreme conditions (that is too important for military missions), has spacious cargo cabin for allocation of injured persons, rescuers and special equipment, it differs between the helicopters of its class of good manoeuvrability and controllability.

But the most important thing, which is to be noted, composition of special equipment of Mi-171SH helicopter. For CSAR-missions carrying out the helicopter is equipped with two winches of 270 kg and 300 kg capacity (they are installed over left and in the aperture of right sliding door), rescue equipment, sanitary stretches for 6 persons, paratrooper seats for 12 rescuers, set of medical equipment, search light, public address system, pilots' blisters with enlarged bleach, FLIR-system, NVG, direction finder.

Special attention is given to installed on the helicopter KNEI-171 navigation and indication complex, where the information from GPS and FLIR-system is output. Additionally to mentioned above the Mi-171SH helicopter is equipped with complex of protection means: engine heat suppressor, UV-26-06 chaff dispenser (it is installed on the helicopter for the first time), armour plating, self-sealing fuel tanks.

The Mi-171SH helicopter equipped for CSAR missions conducting can execute valuably combat missions. In such case the helicopter is equipped expeditiously with armament (including controlled missiles), in such case part of special equipment is removed.

Appearance at world market the Mi-171SH helicopter for CSAR-missions carrying out can influence for plans of some of states, connected with purchasing of military helicopters. The helicopter is competitive not only in its characteristics and capabilities, but in price.

Thus, it can probably be that, some countries will refuse from expensive western CSAR-helicopters at that making their choice in favour of the Russian helicopter.

Esse negócio de operação "barter", troca de carne por material aeronáutico tinha tudo para dar errado. Algumas razões:

1) A FAB não quer helicóptero russo. Ela já havia feito sua opção pelo Blackhawk. Isso era coisa de gente de dentro do governo, como o Furlan, queimado, que conseguiu a simpatia do Bueno (já defenestrado, também).

2) Essa operação não seria algo como a compra dos Gloster Meteor, que foram trocados por algodão, nos anos 50. Naquela ocasião, o Governo já tinha o algodão em suas mãos e não sabia o que fazer com ele. Esse algodão o governo havia comprado dos produtores para socorrê-los e regular o preço. Assim, os produtores de algodão já haviam recebido o dindin do governo por este algodão. O governo brasileiro ofereceu o algodão aos ingleses em troca dos caças e eles aceitaram. No presente caso, o que os produtores de carne bovina e suína querem são as verdinhas. Quem iria pagar pela carne? Ou os produtores de carne braslieiros iam receber helicópteros russos também?
