First Polish MEKO A 100 corvette Slazak under construction at Naval Shipyard Gdynia. The contract for the combat suite and surface to surface missiles is currently awaiting tender via the European Defense Agency. Poland hopes to build six ships of this class but only appears to have ordered one to date. Plans to install a modern RAS capability to Kontradmiral X. Czernicki are unclear after no bids were received on the tender.

Tenho muita curiosidade sobre a marinha polonesa. Bom saber que eles estão sabendo se resolver por lá, com uma pequena ajudinha germânica.

Polish Navy Offshore Patrol Vessel ORP SLAZAK Christened and Launched

Our colleagues from polish website Defence 24 announce that the christening and launching ceremony for ORP Slazak, a new Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) for the Polish Navy, took place yesterday at the Dgynia Naval Shipyard. ORP Slazak is expected to conduct the following missions:
» Destroying naval and aerial targets, smaller vessels and asymmetric threats;
» Patrolling and protecting sea communication routes and harbour approach paths;
» Escorting and protecting commercial vessels;
» Monitoring sea routes, as an element of international forces;
» Anti-pirate operations;
» Providing support and cooperating with Special Forces;
» Functioning as an ad hoc base for helicopters;
» Taking part in humanitarian and environment-protection operations.

Standard displacement mass of the vessel is to be as much as 1800 tonnes, total length – 95.2 m, width – 13.5 m, height to the level of the board – 9.35 m, displacement – 3.6 m. The ship is to be able to operate autonomously for a period of 30 days.

The weapon suite will consists in:
» 1x Oto Melara 76mm main gun
» 2x Oto Melara Marlin WS 30mm remote weapon stations
» 4x GROM Short range surface to air missile launchers
» 4x 12.7 mm machine guns

It was announced in March 2014 that the Polish Ministry of National Defence and Thales signed a contract for the delivery of the integrated combat system and related acceptance activities on board the ORP SLAZAK Patrol Vessel. The system will be fully operational in 2016. The vessel is the successor of the GAWRON multipurpose corvette programme.

In the scope of this contract, Thales will deliver main combat system components such as the TACTICOS Combat Management System, SMART-S Mk2 surveillance radar, STING-EO Mk2 (currently named the STIR 1.2 EO Mk2) fire control radar, MIRADOR electro-optical observation and fire control system and LINK 11/16 tactical data link system. Thales is also responsible for the combat system integration related to other systems to be installed on board the vessel,such as weapons, communication and navigation systems,as well as several third party-supplied sensors.

Eu acho um navio sem proposito porcamente armado para o cenario em que vai operar .A Marinha Polo Play deveria focar em navios de guerra do porte de Destroieres afinal de contas seus oponentes seriam de SU-24 Fencer para TU-142 a Slavas,Akulas e Boreis para pior ...

Me parece um pouco que a Polonia esta confiando em garantias de Tio Sam e OTArian a historia se repete mais uma vez quando o Putin estiver caminhando em Varsovia sobre os cadaveres de 2 milhoes de Poloneses talvez a Angela Merkel levante do vaso sanitario de sua humilde residencia para pegar seu papel higienico folha tripla com teor de seda para começar a pensar a ajudar seus aliados poloneses enviando sacos mortuarios e algum pao velho que sobrou do cafe da manha .

Polish Navy to receive ORP Slazak in 2019, 18 years after keel-laying ceremony



The Polish defense ministry announced on June 29 that it has awarded PGZ a contract to complete outfitting works and all trials on the offshore patrol vessel ‘Slazak’ and subsequently deliver it to the Polish Navy.

According to the announcement, Slazak is set to start trials in July 2018 while the delivery and acceptance is expected to take place by March 2019.

By 2019, the former-corvette-turned-OPV will be delivered to the navy after missing several delivery deadlines.

A keel-laying ceremony for the vessel, which was initially expected to be the first of several Gawron-class corvettes, took place in 2001. Though the vessel’s hull was launched in 2009, the entire project was cancelled in 2012. The government subsequently made the decision to convert the corvette into an offshore patrol vessel.

The converted vessel was to be delivered to the navy by November 2016. After that deadline was not met, Polish media reports indicated July 2018 as the new delivery date. According to the latest announcement, the Slazak should be joining the navy in March 2019.

The 95-meter-long ship is based on the Blohm + Voss’ MEKO A100 design and displaces 1800 tons. It will be carrying a 76 mm OTO Melara gun, two Leonardo-built 30mm Marlin-WS guns, and four Grom man-portable air-defense short-range missile launchers.

Slazak is also equipped with the SMART-S Mk2 is the naval 3D air and surface surveillance radar and the Thales-delivered TACTICOS combat management system, STING-EO Mk2 fire control radar, MIRADOR electro-optical system and LINK 11/16 tactical data link.
