The Russian Navy's new Project 22160 patrol ships will be armed with the Kalibr-NK land attack cruise missile, according to Alexander Karpov, First Deputy Director General of Gorky Zelenodolsk Shipyard.
For Karpov the capability of the missiles was proved when Russia launched Kalibr-NK strikes from the Caspian Sea into Syria on 7 October: "The successful salvoes…demonstrated the firepower of these missiles. Besides, they take up little volume."
Meanwhile, at the Interpolitex-2015 exhibition in Moscow on 18-22 October the Project 22160 ship model was demonstrated at the United Shipbuilding Corporation stand displaying its aft module fitted the Kalibr-NK strike missile system in two containers, of four missiles each, which are raised vertically for launch.
Six of the 1,500-1,800 tonne Project 22160 vessels are due to be operated by the Russian Navy's Black Sea Fleet, with two vessels already under construction. The first vessel, Vasily Bykov , will be fitted with Kalibr-NK and will be handed over to the customer in 2017. The second ship Dmitry Rogachev is due to be commissioned in 2018. By the year 2022 the yard will have supplied all six ships. According to the Navy's plans, a group of Project 22160 ships will be formed at the Novorossiysk naval base on the Black Sea.

The Yantar Shipyard (JSC "Baltic Shipyard" Yantar) in Kaliningrad building the Admiral Essen frigate for the Russian Navy is completing the preparations for its manufacturer’s trials and for putting it out to sea in the Baltic for the first time, the shipyard’s press officer, Sergei Mikhailov, told TASS on Tuesday.

"The Admiral Essen - the second in the six-ship family of Project 11356 [NATO reporting name: Admiral Grigorovich class] frigates - has left the shipyard’s harborage and moved to the acceptance facility in the port of Baltiisk via a seaway channel," Mikhailov said.
Yantar’s press officer also said the frigate might start its factory trials "any day now", but offered no specific date. Then, the ship will put out to sea for the first time.
There are the crew, trial crew and representatives of the subcontractors aboard the Admiral Essen. The Project 11356 Admiral Essen frigate was laid down by Yantar in 2011 and set afloat in November last year. It is scheduled for delivery before year-end.
The official trials of the project’s lead ship, the Admiral Grigorovich slated for delivery in November this year, are in full swing. The two ships are to be assigned to the Russian Navy’s Black Sea Fleet. Under two contracts placed by the Russian Defense Ministry, Yantar will build a six-unit series of Project 11356 patrol ships developed by the Severnoye Design Bureau.
The ships of the class are designed for fighting enemy surface combatants and submarines and providing air defense on the high seas both independently and as part of naval formations. Meanwhile, it has emerged that the first three Project 11356 frigates have been furnished with their organic M7N.1E gas-turbine power plants, while there is no power plants to fit the other three. The M7N.1E was developed and made by Ukrainian manufacturer Zorya-Mashproyet in the city of Nikolayev. It comprises two DT59.1 gas-turbine booster engines 19,500 hp each and two DS-71 cruising engines 9,000 hp each. There are two M7N.1Es per ship. Following the termination of the Russian-Ukrainian military technical cooperation, Zorya-Mashproyekt cut the delivery of the gas-turbine power plants to Yantar. An arms trade source has told TASS in this connection that the other three Project 11356 frigates initially earmarked for the Russian Navy might be offered for export.
"The [Russian] Defense Ministry is redistributing the money set aside for the other three frigates to other ships it needs badly. One of the proposals resultant from meetings of Defense Ministry and Federal Military Technical Cooperation Service officials has been to offer the ships for export," the source said.
He specified that the first three frigates of Project 11356 would be completed for the Black Sea Fleet, because the manufacturer has all relevant components, including the propulsion units.
At the same time, Russian engine manufacturer Saturn in the city of Rybinsk is to develop and build the power plants for the other three ships under the import substitution program. Since the power plants cannot be made before 2019-2020, this does not suit the Navy. The Indian Navy, which operates six ships in the class, has been keen on acquiring the three Project 11356 frigates. Indian Ambassador to Russia Pundi Srinivasan Raghavan has said India would do its best so that the Russian frigates are built for the Indian Navy. He explained that India could take steps to resolve the problems with the Ukrainian power plants required for the ships.

Sevmash has removed all the old equipment from Admiral Nakhimov nuclear-powered battlecruiser of the Russia Navy. In the next phase, the hull will be cleaned and the installation of the new equipment will begin. About 3,000 (max) workers are involved in the modernization program. By Oleg Kuleshov.

Russia's Kirov Class Cruiser Admiral Nakhimov to be Fitted with 48N6DMK Missiles From S-400
Project 11442M heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser Admiral Nakhimov, now undergoing modernization, will be armed with the ship-based anti-aircraft missile system Fort-M /index 3M-48/ whose ammunition will include 48N6DMK anti-aircraft guided missile from the S-400 Triumph weapon system. This news has been placed at the state defense procurements site.
The document published there says that the Almaz-Antey Aerospace Concern must provide PO Sevmash Joint-Stock Company /incorporated by the United Shipbuilding Corporation, USC/ with two sets of the 3M-48 system. The total contract value is 4.758 billion rubles.
It is expected that the cruiser being upgraded will be fitted at the fore and aft of the ship with B-203A revolver-type vertical launchers and Fort-M 3Ts-48 air defense system target designator. The contract to supply the anti-aircraft missile system expressly specifies the need for optimizing the designator soft- and hardware.
In addition, the published documents specify the types of anti-aircraft guided missiles that will be used by the Fort-M anti-aircraft missile system. Those include both previously used kinds of ammunition and a new anti-aircraft guided missile. The former group includes 5V55RM missiles /a version of AAGM from the ship-based S-300P/, 48N6 and 48N6E2 /anti-aircraft guided missile of the S-300FM weapon system/. Previously those missiles were included in the S-300F and S-300FM air defense system component package that arms Project 11442 Pyotr Velikiy /Peter the Great/ heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser.
The documents expressly specify the 48N6DMK item, a version of the 48N6DM anti-aircraft missile of the ship-based S-400 Triumph weapon system.
Thus Project 11442M heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser that is being upgraded will get more advanced air defense systems than the Pyotr Velikiy. According to unclassified sources, the 48N6DM AAGM can intercept aerial targets at a range of up to 250 km, which exceeds by 100 km the similar parameter of the 48N6E2 missile from the S-300FM anti-aircraft missile system.
The Kirov-class cruiser Admiral Nakhimov, known as the Kalinin until 1992, was commissioned in 1989 and mothballed in 1999. It has since been docked for upgrades at the Sevmash shipyard in the northern Russian city of Severodvinsk, on the White Sea.
Sevmash deputy head Sergei Marichev said in a statement in June 2013 that the Admiral Nakhimov would become the most advanced heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser in the Russian Navy. A press release at the time mentionned that the vessel should rejoin the fleet in 2018.
Originally four Kirov-class cruisers were built for the Soviet Navy. As of today only one vessel, the Pyotr Velikiy, is still operational. Russia initially planned to return two other Kirov-class vessels to service (in addition to Admiral Nakhilov) after several years of disuse. However, it was later indicated that the condition of the reactor cores of both ships was such that it would prove difficult, expensive and potentially dangerous to remove the spent nuclear fuel and repair the cores.

Russia to Go Ahead With Lavina Amphibious Assault Ship Project, Preliminary Design Completed
The Krylov State Research Center completed the preliminary design of the versatile amphibious assault ship for the Russian Navy, the center’s executive director, Mikhail Zagorodnikov, told TASS on Thursday. He also said there is "no doubt" the ship will be developped. The Lavina (Avalanche) project was first unveiled during the ARMY-2015 defense exhibiton.
"Krylov Central Scientific Research Institute is developing an alternative to the two Mistral LHDs. Avalanche will have a displacement of 24,000 tons, even more than the French ship" - a spokesman said at the time.

"Unlike the destroyer Leader and icebreakers, the all-purpose amphibious assault ship will not require much R&D work as most of its main components have already been developed," Zagorodnikov said.
"There is no doubt that the ship will be developed," he added.
"We have the expertise to develop the hull, which was demonstrated when the Russian shipyards were building two Mistral-class amphibious assault ships. [...] We have acquired the expertise and can say without any doubt that we’ll carry through the project of developing the all-purpose amphibious assault ship," Zagorodnikov said.

According to him, the Krylov Center will handle the engineering design phase of the all-purpose amphibious assault ship development from early 2016. "The work on the engineering design is beginning," Zagorodnikov added.
He said a simulator ship had been designed for the versatile amphibious assault ship concept implementation and testing the operation of a helicopter group [intended for basing on ships of the kind]. "Essentially, it is a full-scale ship, but we call it a simulator. It is designed for devising methods, techniques and procedures for the helicopters in a realistic environment at sea," the Krylov Center’s head said. "The ship itself will be able to simulate sea-level conditions and the wave-impact load. There is money to pay for it, and we shall release a tender for its construction."
According to early reports, Lavina cruising range will be 5,000 miles at a speed of 18 knots, max speed - 22 knots, with a crew of 320 sailors. The ship will be able to accomodate 500 marines and 50 armored vehicles. According to the source, Avalanche will be able to carry 16 helicoptersof types Ka-27, Ka-29 and Ka-52K for ASW, SAR and Strike missions. It is also expected to have on board six landing craft project 11770 Serna or six amphibious assault craft project 03160 "Raptor". The ship is set to be armed with a AK-176M gun mount and AK-630M-2 "Duet" CIWS. It will also be fitted with the new Pantsir-M Surface Ship Air Defense system.

Agora, imaginando um cenário defensivo (que na verdade é a filosofia da Marinha Russa - que não tem pretensões de projetar poder), em que o Nimitz fosse enviado para atacar a Rússia e se deparasse com o Kuznetsov, como seria essa batalha? vamos imaginar, por exemplo, somente um Nimitz contra um Kuznetsov.

A função do Kuznetzov não é a de projetar poder, e nem mesmo a de obter o controle de uma área marítima pela destruição dos navios inimigos. Ele serve basicamente para proteção aérea de uma FT, para evitar que ela seja atacada pela aviação inimiga baseada em terra ou em NAe's.
Não consigo imaginar o Kuznetzov sozinho tentando enfrentar um Nimitz. Na verdade ele estaria sempre acompanhando um Kirov ou no mínimo um Slava, estes sim responsáveis por atacar o Nimitz e sua FT com seus mísseis anti-navio pesados. Os aviões do Kuznetzov proveriam a defesa aérea do cruzador, evitando que ele ficasse à mercê dos aviões de ataque americanos antes de chegar ao alcance de lançamento de seus mísseis (na faixa de 500 Km).
Neste caso estaríamos falando de uns 40 caças do nível de um Su-33 modernizado ou algum derivado naval do SU-35, ambos otimizados para combate aéreo, contra 60 ou 70 caças F-18 e F-35, aeronaves multi-missão mas com certas limitações de desempenho em combate ar-ar. Aí jogo fica um pouco mais equilibrado.

Do pouco que sei os soviéticos tinham como tática grandes salvas de mísseis anti navio super sônicos, disparados do Kusnetsov, cruzadores pesados e submarinos, todos chegando ao alvo ao mesmo tempo, sendo que alguns designados para as escoltas e outros para o PA.
Ou a escolta se defende ou defende o PA e afunda.
Sem falar que cada míssil poderia levar uma cabeça nuclear de uns 200 Kton.

Mas isso está mudando. Ouvi falar que vão retirar os mísseis anti-navio do Kuznetsov para dar mais espaço a aeronaves, assim como fizeram os chineses, isso já não o fizeram. E o MiG-29K é um caça verdadeiramente multirole (inclusive com capacidade de disparar mísseis anti-navio), diferente do Su-33 que vai substituir. Mas o lance mesmo são as escoltas e submarinos russos. O foco é neles e não necessariamente no porta-aviões russo.
