US & Japan
The aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force helicopter destroyer JS Hyuga (DDH 181) transit the Pacific Ocean. Ships from the U.S. Navy and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force are participating in Annual Exercise (ANNUALEX 21G), a bilateral exercise designed to enhance the capabilities of both naval forces.
Guided missile destroyer U.S.S. Hopper launches a SM-3 interceptor at a test ballistic missile in the Pacific on July 31, 2009.
The aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) and the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) sail in close formation during Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2012.
