A Libyan man inspects the site of a massive explosion that occurred during the night in Benghazi, Libya, Saturday, March 5, 2011. Hospital officials say an explosion at an ammunition depot in Libya's rebel stronghold of Benghazi on Friday has killed at least 17 people. The blast destroyed one warehouse in the base and damaged a second.

Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress (USAAF, In Flight_England, December 1944)



44-6483 / G-G (cn 22706) Built by Douglas at Long Beach. Served at Great Ashfield, Suffolk, with the 550 Bomb Squadron, 385 BG (Heavy) of the 3rd Bombardment Division of the 8th Air Force. By this date the B-17s were delivered in all-metallic finish and the USAAF retained it for the raids on Germany, escorted by the P-51's. Obtained from the USAF 50 years ago.

Dogfight over Don river. This photo is made up of several pieces. It gives indication of dogfight in the Great Patriotic War. This photo features Soviet MiG-3 fighters, shot German bomber Junkers Ju-88. Looking closer one can notice dots to left and little bit higher Junkers - these are three more planes.

BM-21-12 (RKKA, Berlin_Germany, 1945)



BM-21-12 guards jet rocket mortar in Berlin. This is modification of the prominent "Katysha" (on the analogy it got the nickname "Andryusha"). It fired 310mm shells ("Katyusha" used 132mm shells) launched from honeycomb type 12 guide rails (2 levels 6 cells each). The system was mounted on American-made Studebaker US6 truck supplied to USSR under lend-lease.
