A IMI (Israel Military Industries Ltd.) anunciou em Eurosatory a introdução do míssil Delilah-GL (Foto ao lado), uma variante para lançamento a partir de terra do míssil Delilah, que anteriormente só existia em versão para lançamento a partir de aeronaves, já tendo sido homologado para o F-4 e o F-16. O –GL é um míssil com velocidade alto supersônico, capaz de permanecer tempo considerável na área do ação, e destinado a atacar com precisão alvos fixos ou móveis. New Missile Developed

Israel's Military Industries has developed its first surface-to-surface cruise missile with a range of at least 180 miles, according to a report prepared by Jane's Defense Weekly.

Named the Delilah-GL (ground launch), the missile could reach the territory of all of Israel's neighbors with the exception of Iran.

Israel developed the new technology after a decade of unsuccessful attempts to purchase surface-to-surface cruise missiles from the United States.

The Delilah-GL (ground launch) missile is an adaptation of its air-launched predecessor, Jane said, quoting officials at Israel Military Industries (IMI), where the missile is manufactured.

The missile, powered by a turbojet engine has a range of 155 miles, IMI reported, but defense officials revealed to Jane's that the missile could reach "well beyond 300 kilometers (180 miles)."

IMI and Israel would not comment on the missile's payload capacity, but the Delilah air-to-surface missile is based on the GL which can carry up to a 30-kilogram (66-pound) high-explosive warhead or a range of other payloads.

IMI'S Ground Launched "Delilah"

IMI'S "Delilah missile for attacking high quality targets in the rear that is usually fired from a plane is offered in a ground launch configuration.

IMI will present the "Delilah -GL" ground launch version at the Eurosatory Exhibition. The Delilah is a long- range missile that is capable of cruising over a target in order to enable accurate identification and attack, even when the targets are in motion.

The operational missile is launched form F16 fighter jets and is equipped with a navigational system that acquires its targets in real time, the ability to choose targets, the ability to go around in order to ensure optimal results, human involvement in order to ensure that the target is certain and in order to control the results and accurate and effective strike capabilities

In the land-launched version, the Delilah will be launched form a customized launcher on the ground and from there on will behave exactly like the existing missile. Its jet engine, GPS system and advanced optronics position the Delilah as an extremely high quality missile for "surgically" striking quality targets in the rear. Its ability to attack targets in motion turns the Delilah into an all-purpose missile.
