.... She (Coronel) was then converted into a fighter direction ship (1943), renamed the Togo, and equiped with a Freya radar aerial forward and a Würzburg aft. The Freya FuMG A1 (Funkmessgerät Ausrüstung 1, or radar equipment 1) initially worked on a wavelenght of 2.4 m, but this was subsequently reduced to 1,5 m. The range was between 40 and 75 km and the bearing acuracy +- 10º. The Würzburg (FuMG 65) worked on a Wavelenght of 53 cm with a range of 40-70 km..... The Togo fell into British hands in August 1945 and was towed back to England port for a detailed examination of her radar and fighter-direction gear, before being handed over to the United States for a similar examination in January 1946. After two months in US hands the ship was sripped and handed over to the Norwegian navy on March 15, 1946, for use as an auxiliary, and renamed Svalbard in 1947. In 1954 she became the maecantile Tilthorn, then the Stella Marina a year later, (que desgraça, o Sporting acabou de empatar) and was passed back to Germany in 1956 reverting to the original name Togo.
