WASHINGTON, April 7. /TASS/. Russia’s intents in connection with its troop movement on the border with Ukraine remain unclear to the United States, and Washington calls upon Moscow to specify them more clearly, Department of Defense Spokesperson John Kirby told reporters on Tuesday.

"The intent is not completely clear, and I believe our State Department colleagues yesterday called on Russia to make their intentions known," he said.

"We continue to see Russian forces arrayed along the border with Ukraine in Crimea specifically," Kirby added. "It's also difficult for us to speak to intent right now. It is concerning and we continue to monitor it."

He evaded a direct response to a question of whether, in Washington’s opinion, Russian troops could be deployed in eastern Ukraine.

"I try to avoid, if I can, speaking to specific operations here, particularly operations of of another military," the spokesman said.

On Monday, a US Department of State spokesperson said his country was ready for cooperation with Moscow regarding the situation in eastern Ukraine. At the same time, in his opinion, the United States believes that reports about the movement of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine and in Crimea were credible. The spokesperson called upon Russia to refrain from any actions that might lead to escalation.

In the past few days, Western nations have repeatedly expressed concern about Ukraine’s reports of alleged Russian military buildup at its borders. The "icing" on this military "cake" is the relocation to Crimea of the 56th Independent Airborne Guards Brigade, a sub-unit of which already took part in the fighting in Donbas in 2014. Fato é que no mundo ocidental hoje ninguém em sã consciência duvida de que os russos estão dispostos a peitar a OTAN na Ucrânia e onde mais for necessário a fim de manter o status quo das suas fronteiras. E o pessoal sabe muito bem como os russos são sensíveis a esta questão.
Imagino que em algum momento antes de alguém fazer algum tipo de merda das grandes, como o assassinato do arqueduque húngaro em Sarajevo mais de cem anos atrás, se chegue a um consenso.

"Fomos notificados por canais diplomáticos há duas semanas, de acordo com a convenção de Montreux, de que dois navios de guerra americanos vão transitar em direção ao Mar Negro", disse uma fonte da diplomacia turca.

Já hoje, fontes militares norte-americanas citadas pela estação televisiva CNN tinham dito que a Marinha dos EUA estava a ponderar o envio de navios de guerra para o Mar Negro, nas próximas semanas.

A Marinha dos Estados Unidos opera rotineiramente naquele mar, mas o envio de navios de guerra serve para avisar Moscovo de que os Estados Unidos estão a monitorizar de perto os movimentos naquela área, referiram as fontes citadas pela CNN.

Agora, a diplomacia turca confirmou que dois navios dos EUA cruzarão o Estreito do Bósforo separadamente, em 14 e 15 de abril, até chegar ao Mar Negro, regressando em 04 e 05 de maio.

A Convenção de Montreux, de 1936, garante a livre navegação no Estreito de Bósforo, mas os países que não tenham costa no Mar Negro devem anunciar com 15 dias de antecedência a passagem dos seus navios, que não podem permanecer no local por mais de 21 dias.

Na quinta-feira, a Casa Branca admitiu que os Estados Unidos estão cada vez mais preocupados com a crescente presença de tropas russas na fronteira com a Ucrânia e na Crimeia, península anexada pela Rússia em 2014.

À bocado estava a ler uma notícia em que um responsável russo afirmava que a continuar a escalada, a Ucrânia que se preparasse para "deixar de existir", porque os russos não lhes iriam dar um tiro nas pernas mas sim " na cara"
