Brazil details new C295 aircraft deliveries
The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) is to receive three new C295 aircraft from Airbus Defence and Space between 2017 and 2019, a FAB spokesperson told IHS Jane's .
The first aircraft is scheduled for delivery in May 2017 and the third in May 2019, with a date for the second delivery yet to be established, the spokesperson said. Deliveries were initially scheduled for between 2016 and 2017.
The aircraft (locally designated SC-105 Amazonas) were purchased in April 2014 for EUR191.2 million (USD215.1 million) as part of the FAB's Strategic Military Plan 2010-31 (PEMAER). The fleet is configured for search-and-rescue missions and will be operated by Squadron Pelícano from Campo Grande airbase, where two SC-105s are currently based (although these two are not as well equipped and the incoming aircraft will be).
Included on the newer aircraft will be an Airbus Fully Integrated Tactical System (FITS) mission system; Thales Topdeck avionics suite; ELTA Systems EL/M-2022A(V)3 radar; forward-looking infrared camera; Rockwell Collins SATCOM terminal, communications, navigation, surveillance/air traffic management system, and HF radio; Rohde & Schwarz's V/UHF communications; personnel locator system; and file transmission system.
Twelve C295s, comprising 10 C-105 transports and the two SC-105s, were received between March 2007 and June 2009 as part of the CL-X2 project, and are fielded by Squadrons Pelicano, Arara, and Onça.
