As metralhadoras 14,5mm creio que sejam de fácil adaptação nas asas dos STs, já os canhões de 20mm necessitariam de um reprojeto das asas, pois tomariam bem mais espaço.

Até hoje nunca ouvi falar de um movimento da Embraer neste sentido e creio que dificilmente aconteceria. Creio eu que talvez com esta jornada do Super Tucano no Oriente Médio vejamos versões utilizado as 14,5.

Não acho que isso aconteceria... esses STucanos comprados para o Afeganistão já tem destino certo porque o bicho está pegando (e muito) por lá (embora não saia tanto assim nos jornais).

Uma nova encomenda quem sabe... mas como o T-6B já foi comprado pelo Iraque, não duvidaria se eles continuassem por puro lobby e pressão a comprar essas aeronaves.

É aguardar...

O ST tá caindo de maduro para esse teatro de operações. Espere eles começarem a fazer sucesso lá no Afeganistão e a Embraer não vai dar conta de atender os pedidos.

O exercício realizado no Campo de Provas Brigadeiro Velloso, localizado no sul do Pará, reuniu 25 aeronaves e cerca de 300 militares das unidades aéreas sediadas em Porto Velho (RO), Boa Vista (RR) e Campo Grande (MS). Exclusive: Canada seen buying fighter jets from U.S., not Europe - source

(Reuters) - Canada is likely to choose between two major U.S. firms when it buys a new fleet of jet fighters, excluding two European competitors, according to a source with direct knowledge of the matter.

The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said Lockheed Martin Corp's F-35 stealth fighter and Boeing Co's F-18 E/F Super Hornet were deemed more suitable for the variety of tasks the military has laid out.

The source said that while the F-35 had scored well on the various tests laid out by the military, the Super Hornet was almost as capable and had the advantage of being cheaper.

If so, the choice would mean the widely expected elimination of Dassault Aviation SA's Rafale and the Eurofighter Typhoon, jointly made by BAE Systems PLC, Finmeccanica SpA and Airbus Group NV.

The fighter selection has proven enormously problematic for Canada's Conservative government, which in 2012 scrapped a sole-sourced plan to buy 65 F-35s for C$9 billion ($8.3 billion) after a parliamentary watchdog savaged the decision.

Ottawa then set up a special secretariat to compare the merits of the four contenders. It is deciding whether to hold a competition or go ahead with the initial plan to buy F-35s, which could prompt accusations that it was acting in bad faith.

The secretariat was not asked to make a recommendation about which jet to buy, but the new revelations will likely bolster the increasing conviction in Ottawa and Washington that the F-35 remains the front runner.

Richard Aboulafia, analyst with Virginia-based Teal Group, said further delays in a Canadian decision could push any possible order beyond the order window that Boeing would need to maintain the Super Hornet line, now slated to close in 2017.

"Even if you choose not to decide, you have still made a choice,” Aboulafia said.

Polls show the Conservatives of Prime Minister Stephen Harper could lose the next federal election, which is set for October 2015.

A spokeswoman for Public Works Minister Diane Finley, who is responsible for military procurement, said ministers were reviewing a number of reports, including information on fighter capabilities, industrial benefits, costs and other factors, and all options remained open until a decision was made.

"Cabinet has made no such decision, nor has Cabinet determined when it will make a decision," said Jason MacDonald, chief spokesman for the prime minister.

The $400 billion F-35 program, the largest in Pentagon history, is already late and well over budget. U.S. officials said on Wednesday they were nearing a fix for the engine that powers the F-35.

The failure of Pratt & Whitney's F135 engine grounded the entire F-35 fleet for several weeks this summer. Flights have resumed but with certain restrictions on speed and other maneuvers.

A potential attraction for Canada is that Lockheed's bid offers Canadian industry some $11 billion in work building airplane components.

Three other sources familiar with the deliberations said Ottawa had been poised last month to announce it would buy the F-35s. That plan changed when Harper – concerned about the political fallout - suggested that Canada could wait since it did not need to replace its existing CF-18 jets until 2020.

One of the three sources, who was not authorized to speak publicly, said Harper could still announce in coming weeks that Canada would buy the F-35 and skip a new competition, but that "ultimately, it will be a political decision."

Boeing's bid would likely include more traditional offset agreements, giving contracts to Canadian firms. Dassault says it is prepared eventually to build the Rafale in Canada.

Analysts and opposition critics suspect the government will delay the decision until after the next election. If Canada puts off buying new planes for too long, it would likely have to upgrade its current aging CF-18s, which date back to 1982, at a cost that some analysts estimate could top $1 billion.

Lockheed said on Thursday it was continuing to support the Canadian government and the special secretariat as Ottawa weighed its options. A Boeing spokesman said the company continued to support the Canadian process.

Harper is in Wales for a NATO summit, where he is under pressure to boost Canada's defense spending in the face of instability in Ukraine and the Middle East.

MANILA, Philippines - A total of P24.7 billion is needed next year to fund 12 projects to enhance the military’s capabilities.

The STAR obtained data showing that among the projects that the Department of National Defense (DND) wants to include in the 2015 budget are lead-in fighter trainer jets ammunition, long-range patrol aircraft, multi-purpose attack craft, rocket launchers and base upgrades.

Four of the 12 projects will go to the Air Force: six units of close air support aircraft (P4.968 billion), two units of long-range patrol aircraft (P5.976 million) and basing support systems in three provinces (P187.43 million).

Also in the list is the purchase of munitions for the 12 FA-50 lead-in fighter trainer jets acquired from South Korea for about P4.52 billion.

The Navy will have three projects: two units of helicopters capable of anti-submarine warfare (P5.402 billion), three units of multi-purpose attack craft (P1.18 billion) and support and logistics for naval bases (P313.62 million).

Four of the projects seek to improve the Army’s capabilities: 4,464 units of night fighting systems (P1.116 billion), 744 units of rocket launchers (P407.41 million), 1,446 units of 2-5W handheld radios (P430.8 million) and 60 units of high frequency 50W radios (P144 million).

The DND also needs P133.4 million to buy 46 units of light utility vehicles for the Armed Forces of the Philippines general headquarters.

Officials expect the upgrade projects to strengthen the military’s territorial defense and internal security capabilities.

Last month, The STAR reported that the DND is seeking a P10-billion supplemental budget to support the modernization of the military.

It would fill in the amount that was not provided to the upgrade program this year.

Defense Undersecretary Fernando Manalo said the DND needs P20 billion for 2014, as programmed. “However, only P10 billion was included in the (General Appropriations Act), hence the request,” he said.

A supplemental budget is on top of the annual national budget passed by Congress.

In 2012, President Aquino signed a law allocating P75 billion for the first five years of the military’s modernization program.

The 2015 budget proposed by Malacañang allocated P20 billion for the Armed Forces Modernization Program.

So far, the administration has completed 37 military upgrade projects worth P9.2 billion.

Fourteen projects worth P6.2 billion are slated for completion before the end of the year, including the delivery of assault rifles for the Army and Marines, additional UH-1H helicopters for the Air Force, close combat optics and explosive ordnance disposal equipment.

Ten projects worth P17.3 billion are scheduled for delivery in 2015, including Army armored vehicles, attack helicopters, combat utility helicopters, light lift and medium lift aircraft and naval helicopters.

Interessante. o governo filipino tem sérios problemas com rebeldes em algumas das ilhas do país, uma coisa semelhante às FARC da Colômbia. Nesse caso os STs seriam de grande valia.

Desde janeiro de 2011, demonstrando interesse pelo avião de ataque leve Embraer EMB-314 Super Tucano, o Ministério da Defesa das Filipinas pretende este ano definir o sucessor do OV-10 Bronco, hoje empregado em missões de contra-insurgência.
Utilizados contra a insurgência islâmica que atua prinicipalmente nas ilhas de Mindanao e Palawan desde a virada do milênio, a Pilipinas Hugbong Himpapawid (PHH - Força Aérea das Filipinas) vem sentindo considerável dificuldade para manter sua frota de OV-10 Bronco com aceitável índice de disponibilidade.
A PHH prevê a aquisição de um lote inicial de seis aeronaves de ataque leve.
Apesar de estar examinando o Ayres AT-802U e o Beech AT-6 Texan II como alternativas, fontes filipinas apontam o Super Tucano como claro favorito.

O Departamento de Defesa Nacional (DND) das Filipinas disse na quinta-feira que está de olho em transações de governo para governo com a Coréia do Sul e com o Brasil para a aquisição de jatos de treinamento avançado T-50 e aeronaves turboélices de ataque leve Embraer EMB-314 Super Tucano.

Numa entrevista por telefone com jornalistas, o secretário de Defesa Voltaire Gazmin, disse que essas aeronaves são necessárias para proteger o espaço aéreo das Filipinas.

A Coreia do Sul fabrica o T-50, que é um treinador supersônico que também pode executar as tarefas de ataque leve. O Super Tucano foi projetado para missões de ataque leve, de contra-insurgência (COIN), apoio aéreo aproximado, e de reconhecimento aéreo.

As transações de Governo para Governo, ou G2G, são relações não-comerciais entre duas organizações, departamentos, e autoridades governamentais.

Gazmin fez a revelação em meio a críticas, de que o uso de operações G2G para a aquisição de equipamento militar é propenso à corrupção devido à falta de licitação.

Gazmin respondeu que as transações G2G irão eliminar os intermediários que se beneficiam de comissões, resultando em preços mais baixos de aquisição.

Além disso, Gazmin deu garantias de que no âmbito do programa de transparência da administração Aquino, “todos os contratos e processos estão disponíveis para ser avaliados pelo povo.” Ele disse que essa transparência está sendo observada na licitação para ativos semelhantes.

“Se você vai passar por um terceiro, haverá comissões e o preço será maior. Agora, de governo para governo (negócios), os intermediários são evitados e, ao mesmo tempo, funcionários do governo são responsáveis nas suas relações”, disse ele.

O DND também está visando adquirir navios e equipamentos de comunicação da Coreia do Sul, Itália, França, Grã-Bretanha ou do Brasil. Essas aquisições também pretendem ser realizadas por meio de transações G2G.
