Não.

Não deixa de ser uma pergunta interessante, pelo menos para os leigos. Na foto se vê claramente muitas partes da torre com uma proteção bem leve. Acredito que tiro de fuzil 5,56 ou 7,62 ela aguente, mas de um projétil de maior poder...

GUARANI apresentado na EUROSATORY

Na maior feira de Armamentos Terrestres do Mundo, a EUROSATORY, o Projeto conjunto da IVECO Defence e o Exército Brasileiro, a viatura blindada Guarani está em destaque. 10 de Junho, 2012 - 13:50 ( Brasília )















Na área reservada para a IVECO Defence está a Viatura Blindada de Transporte de Pessoal Média de Rodas (VBTP-MR) Guarani.

Projeto conjunto entre a empresa italiana IVECO Defence e a IVECO do Brasil com o Exército Brasileiro.

Em exibição um dos modelos de produção da pré-série, que inclui alguns interessantes detalhes.

O detalhe mais visível são os pontos de fixação para blindagem adicional distribuídos em todo o entorno do veículo. Na LAAD 2011 o Guarani foi apresentado com placas adicionais já fixadas aos pinos. Também os sistemas de visão periférica (TV) adicionados nas áreas de pouca visão da tripulação. Um está visivel na traseira acima da porta de desembarque da viatura.

Também oespaço interno está mais refinado e detalhado do que o apresentado na LAAD 2011.

Detalhes de acabamento são visíveis em todo o veículo que demonstra o avanço do projeto.

A IVECO Defence realizará na próxima terça-feira, 12 de junho, à tarde na EUROSATORY, uma conferência de imprensa exclusivamente sobre o Projeto Guarani .

Na ocasião autoridades do Exército Brasileiro e Executivos da IVECO darão mais detalhes sobre o projeto.

Em cerimônia no stand da empresa IVECO foi realizada uma coletiva de imprensa e entregue a primeira viatura blindada Guarani ao Exército Brasileiro.

Coube ao General Mayer Sinclair, Chefe do Departamento de Ciência e Tecnologia do Exército Brasileiro (DCT) recber de maneira simbólica a chave. Na solenidade também esteve presente o General Farias Chefe do Comando Logístico (COLOG).

Iveco delivers first Guarani pre-series unit to Brazilian Army and announces the beginning of a new project for the Brazilian Cavalry Iveco has participated in Eurosatory 2012 (11th to 15th June), one of the world's largest defence events and Europe’s largest defence land and airland systems exhibition. The exhibition provided Iveco Defence Vehicles with the opportunity to acquaint both existing customers and other visitors with its latest commercial successes and the most recent developments in its product range of logistic, multirole, protected and armoured vehicles.

Eurosatory also provided Iveco with the opportunity to deliver the first Guarani pre-series unit to the Brazilian Army at a ceremony with Alfredo Altavilla, Iveco CEO and the General Sinclair James Mayer, head of the Brazilian Army’s Science and Technology Department. The 6x6 Amphibious Armoured Vehicle, named Guarani by the Brazilian Army and also known as VBTP, has been developed by Iveco in partnership with the Science and Technology Department of the Brazilian Army. This follows the signing of a contract in 2009 for the supply of 2044 units of a new family of armoured personnel carriers. The vehicle will be produced in the new €23 million production unit in Sete Lagoas (Brazil), which is currently under construction and due for completion by the end of 2012. With an estimated production capacity of more than 100 units per year and deliveries scheduled for the next 20 years, the new plant will start serial production in 2013.

At the ceremony, it was also announced that the Brazilian Army has decided to entrust Iveco with the development of a new version of the Guarani armoured vehicle for use by the Brazilian Infantry. The initial Guarani project was produced for Cavalry applications only, with the aim of increasing the effectiveness of Brazilian land forces. A wide variety of configurations makes them very effective in fulfilling different roles including personnel carrier, reconnaissance and ambulance, therefore meeting the whole range of military needs and reinforcing the Army’s operational capability in the most demanding scenarios. This new development project also acknowledges the trust that Iveco has gained with the Brazilian Army and also marks Iveco’s strength in building strong and durable relationships with its partners.

The Guarani is a family of 18-tonne armoured vehicles with amphibious capabilities. Powered by a FPT Industrial Cursor 9 engine with 383cv, 6x6 traction and automatic gearbox, it can carry a crew of up to 11 in several different configurations. External dimensions are 6,9 meters long, 2,7 meters wide and 2,3 meters high. It can be equipped with different weapon systems and can be air-carried by a Hercules C-130 or a Embraer KC-390 type airplane.

The Guarani is designed to provide the basis for a family of vehicles apable of filling a multitude of roles. The adoption of a modular approach to product development provides a number of advantages such as product variety without un-necessary re-engineering (reducing timescales and costs), optimum combination of power, protection and payload and flexibility in operation and support through improved serviceability and ease of upgrade.

The use of COTS main assemblies (Commercial Off The Shelf) ensures outstanding levels of reliability and consequently excellent fleet availability, ease of maintenance and low whole life costs. “There is potential for sales in several world markets”, says Paolo Del Noce, recently appointed as head of the project in Brazil. ”The Argentinean Army has already demonstrated its interest”.

Eurosatory 2012: Brazil and Iveco to work up next-generation Guarani 12 June 2012 - 13:43 by Andrew White in Paris

The Brazilian Army has tasked Iveco with the development of a new version of the Guarani armoured vehicle for use by infantry forces, it has been announced.

Speaking at Eurosatory in Paris on 12 June, Iveco company executives described the agreement with the Brazilian Army's Science and Technology Department, which will focus on the development of a 'wide variety' of vehicle configurations in order to help them fulfil roles including personnel carrier; reconnaissance; and ambulance.

The deal follows a 2009 agreement in which the army contracted Iveco to supply 6X6 Guarani or VBTP platforms as part of a wider 2,044-strong family of APCs. Over 100 units will be manufactured each year at a new manufacturing plant in Sete Lagoas, Brazil from 2013 onwards. A first prototype, which was delivered in 2011, is currently 'performing very well' during tests in Rio de Janeiro, it was added.

Iveco CEO, Alfredo Altavilla said: 'The Brazilian Army has made a decision to follow-on with the development of a new version of Guarani for mechanised brigades. It will include the specific needs of infantry applications and configurations which are now under discussion.'

Officials added that an 8X8 variant would be considered as well as modifications to the internal layout of the existing Guarani platform. A final decision on the configuration is expected in the next few weeks with the new vehicle due to begin testing in 2013 and beyond.

Guarani is an 18-ton platform which is powered by an FPT Industrial Cursor 9 engine with automatic gearbox. It is capable of carrying 11 personnel and can be airlifted by C-130 or KC-390 airframes.

Iveco's programme manager in Brazil, Paolo Del Noce, highlighted export potential in South America, saying: 'There is potential for sales in several world markets. The Argentinian Army has already demonstrated its interest. They are working with Brazil for a procurement in 2013.'

Eu pessoalmente não vejo nada de feio no design do veiculo em questão. Na verdade nesse aspecto não há muito por onde inventar, as linhas são orientadas pela função e não pelo aspecto em qualquer veiculo do género.
