Re: Sobre o KF-X sul-coreano

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Theo Chee Hean expressed admiration for Indonesia`s and South Korea`s K-FK/I-FX jet fighter project.
"It`s amazing ..", he said when he was received by Indonesian Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro here on Wednesday.
During the 15-minute courtesy call on the defense minister, Theo Chee Hean said he was impressed by developments in Indonesia`s defense filed of late.
"I notice that the development of Indonesia`s defense system, alustista (armament system) has of late gained great progress," he said.
In his response to the Singapore deputy prime minister, Purnomo said that the advancement of Indonesia`s defense system of late was inseparable from the government`s increased defense budget.
"Some of the defense budget is used to replace a number of jet fighters such as the F-5s and Hawk-MK53s with Super Tucano," the Indonesian defense minister said.
Indonesia also cooperated with South Korea in the production K-FX/I-IFX jet fighters which are train combat jets, generation 4.5.
Indonesia and South Korea agreed to build KFX jet fighters in Seoul on July 15, 2010.
Compared with F-16, KFX is projected to have 50 percent more attack radius, better avionic system and better anti-radar capacity (stealth).
Purnomo said that Indonesia was trying to meet its own need for arms system, including in the development of warplanes
and for that purpose, Indonesia agreed to cooperate with South Korea.(*)

Boeing sneaks a peek at KF-X design

This literally slipped right past us last week in Seoul. Buried in the Korean-language F-15SE Silent Eagle brochure, which we brought home as a souvenir, is an image revealing Boeing's concept for South Korea's KF-X fighter. It was so sneaky we didn't even spot it until it was pointed out to us by an alert blog reader, who had downloaded the same brochure on Boeing's web site. Yes, we are ashamed.
Judging by this image, Boeing is offering a single-seat fighter with a V-tail and an internal weapons bay. We detect a passing resemblance to a snub-nosed F/A-18. It's difficult to determine whether the image shows one or two engines, but South Korea's preference is clearly the latter. In the KF-X seminar we attended on 21 October, a Defense Acquisition Programmes Administration (DAPA) official voiced concern about the safety of single-engine fighters. This, from a country that operates Lockheed Martin KF-16s and partly indigenous Lockheed/Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) T/F/A-50 Golden Eagles, is an astonishing opinion.
In any case, we believe we now have the three images of the most likely KF-X designs proposed by foreign companies.
Boeing's concept is above. The Eurofighter concept, showing what appears to be a twin-engined MAKO variant, was revealed on this blog last week. Where is Lockheed's concept? Well, we're betting that's the image revealed in DAPA's presentations at the KF-X seminar, which, ahem, kind of makes you wonder if one team has an early lead.

ACAB Appointed by LIG Nex1 to Develop KFX Fighter Radome Prototype
(Source: Volvo Aero; issued Feb. 16, 2012)
The Volvo Aero owned company, Applied Composites AB – ACAB – has been appointed by LIG Nex1, a LIG Group company in South Korea, for the development of a prototype stealth radome for the KFX aircraft programme.
ACAB is recognized as one of the leading European suppliers of advanced composite components for military applications. Among other things, ACAB is specialized in advanced radome technology, including the latest generation stealth and low-observable technology. ACAB has supported and supplied Saab for over half a century with radome technology for the Saab fighter programmes. ACAB is the supplier of the Gripen fighter radomes.
LIG Nex1 is South Korea’s number one company on military products. LIG Nex1 is working in close collaboration with advanced global companies. LIG Nex1 is developing state-of-the-art weapon systems, including radar and surveillance systems.
The radome (radar dome) is the streamlined structural part in the nose of the aircraft which protects the radar antenna from wind and weather. It is carefully designed to withstand the mechanical loads without compromising the radar performance. In addition, it increases the survivability of the aircraft due to its sophisticated stealth features.
The KFX aircraft is intended to replace South Korea’s aging F-4 Phantom II and F-5 Tiger II aircraft. The production numbers are estimated to exceed 250 aircraft. The contract includes exploratory development and production of prototypes for an undisclosed contract value. It is still too early to determine the number of people at ACAB that will be involved in development and production.
“We are very proud of and pleased with the contract from LIG Nex1 since it consolidates our position as world leader in radomes” says Torgny Stenholm, President of ACAB.
“In addition, the agreement is considered to be strategically important for ACAB as the company has plans to expand within the commercial and military aerospace segments”, he adds.
LIG Nex1 was established in 1976 to support a self-reliant defense system for Korea. LIG Nex1 has grown into a top-caliber defense company.
ACAB, Applied Composites Aktiebolag, is a Volvo Aero company based in Linköping, Sweden. ACAB is a leading supplier of advanced composite subsystems and structural parts for aerospace and defence applications.
